My Politics

The Estonian Public Broadcasting company released a little questionnaire that maps important political issues ahead of the parliamentary elections in March.

I decided to record myself answering the questions, and explaining why.

really? women not discriminated against in Estonia? Try dressing up as a female and getting a job competing against men once, see how that goes. Then try getting the same salary for the same work. Then get back to me. This particular issue is, btw, one of the main reasons why I probably won't be returning to Estonia any time soon.

Sad as the situation is, there's no way of making it better with legislation e.g. a set percentage of employees have to be female, it has to grow with the society as a whole.

Well, I did mention that there is a salary difference, and that it's OK in my opinion that the government tries to rectify the situation.

But I'm a man, I've not experienced it, so I can't really comment with very much conviction.

I came out as SDE with Greens right behind. But IRL was a surprisingly close third. Makes one wonder about their conservative credentials ...

what I do not understand, why you need 40 minutes time to tell the world about the nice neoliberal picture of the world you have in your brain? why not a little bit shorter? e.g. you could just say: "well, I am an egoist, I just care about my personal forthecoming. thats why I refuse a more just taxation system where I would pay more taxes. Because I have no moral concious and I see myself as a social darwinist I also refuse adequate welfare benefits for poor people. Let them die of hunger if the unemployment benefits in Estonia do not cover basic expenses for rent and food. not my problem, I just care for myself. to sum it up, I like neoliberal ideology and plasic words so much, thats why I vote for comerade Ansip and his reform party"

- that all you could say in 2 minutes, so why to waste 40 minutes with it? when I read or hear stuff like this I am really grateful for the good luck to be born in a more or less educated environment and not in Estonia. the big advantage in Western Europe in general and in East Germany in particular is that egoists like you are a really rare species here. thanks god.

Why? To annoy you, obviously.

What was your name again?

my name is totally unimportant. the only important message for you is that people elswhere indeed have a moral concious that you obviously have not. So I conclude that in your education or socialisation in family, school, university and society obciously somethings has gone terribly wrong. either this or egoism and social dawrwinism are indeed the main "values" Estonian cociety teaches its citizens.

Of course your name is important! You're not a puppet, you're a real boy!

forget about it, boy. not the name of the messenger is important. the message itself is of relevance.
